Everyone
loves a who dunnit and Coleen Rooney has given us an amazing plot line to
follow along at home, with her accusations of story selling by Rebekah Vardy.

The
battle of the wags is a news media dream; you have conflict, you have celebrity
and you have sensational claims. You also have other celebrities wading in to
give their verdict too.
On
the one side, you have someone saying that false stories have been sold to the
press and that they have worked out who is behind it through process of
elimination - this calls out both the media appetite to snap up any juicy drop
of gossip and the intricacies of social media platforms, how they operate and
just how intrusive they can be.
On
the other side, you have someone who claims innocence, who is in a vulnerable
condition being heavily pregnant and as a supposed friend of her accuser, is
perhaps understandably peeved that these claims weren’t discussed directly rather
than on the public stage.
And
this is where the battle be fought and the war of words will be won.
Coleen has
garnered the greatest support so far, boosting her profile and winning her
public brownie points, whilst Rebekah will have to deal with the backlash and
trying to maintain a positive profile - which will be hard to do when her
reputation has been so dramatically called into question. That’s not to say
that one has had a good PR day and the other a bad one; this is a bizarre and
unique story and we will have to see who wins the affections of the public and
the press when it all comes out in the wash.
